TAPE-TO-DISC AUDIOPHILE REMASTERS SERIES

From number 175 the CDs combined with Audiophile Sound are all made with Tape-To-Disc technology. Thanks to an agreement with a team of American transfer engineers, the transfer of the ¼ ”/ 38cms master tapes (almost all original production masters) to digital format is done with ultra high-end audiophile components as few productions are in the world. Of this I am absolutely sure knowing almost all the most famous mastering studios in the United States and Europe.

The transfers are made in DSD 128 and increasingly in DSD 256. For the transfer from the original tape source we use a recorded Studer 810 modified with the external De Havilland Audio Tape preamplifier. The electronics of the Studer are thus completely bypassed. An Anaglogue to Digtital Mergin Hapi ADC converter with an Antelope Audio 10mx Atomic Clock are used for digital transfer. Everything is done in the DSD domain without using the tricks of many transfer engineers to manipulate the sound.

In addition, a Shunyata Research Yydra Triton V3 mains filter with QR Hydra Typhon is used. The cables are from Shunyata, Purist Audio and Siltech. Finally, the Ethernet cable is the Shunyata Venom which connects the AD Merging to the computer.
Finally after the conversion to the DSD format the files are encoded again in PCM 16bit / 44.1, the compact disc format, for duplication of your CDs. This is made by SONOPRESS in Germany which offers one of the best Error Block Rates of all duplicating factories in the world.

The emphasis is on quality or on the reproduction of a signal that ensures the most perfect possible recreations of the sonic characteristics of the original source. For those who want to “listen before buying” we have made available various pieces to download for free in the same resolution as the CDs attached to the magazine from n. 175. Happy Listening!
